International Union of Economists presents its compliments and invites you to
participate in the XV anniversary International Congress on regional development,
which will take place from 18th to 23rd of May, 2010 in Switzerland (Montreux).
International Union of Economists holds the XV International Congress with
support and participation of the Russian-Swiss business club.
The theme of the Congress is “Modernization as the main way of economic
development”.
International Union of economists with Government's of Russia, State Duma's,
Moscow City Government's and Russian Academy's of Sciences support and
participation has been holding the International Congress of regional
development since 1996. The main aim of the Congress is to discus the most
urgent questions on regional economic development and international
collaboration.
Within the bounds of the Congress Russian-Swiss meetings which took place in
Geneva in 1996, in Crans-Montana in 2000, in Montreux in 1997-1999 and in
2001-2010 are traditionally held.
The main goal of all the events of the Congress is the active assistance to
participation of statesmen, scientists, bankers, businessmen, leaders of the
social organizations of the European Union, Russia and other countries in
elaborating the new forms if international collaboration and organization of
large-scale projects of economic development.
The program of the XV Congress includes the holding of the plenary meeting on he
19th of May, 2010, a number of formal events, meetings, negotiations, scientific
discussions, in which the representatives of government body and executive
authority, business groups, scientists and economic communities of Russia and
Switzerland. The main report on the plenary meeting will make the director of
Institute of Europe RAS, RAS academician, Doctor of Economics, professor N.P.
Shmelev.

18th of May, Tuesday
9.55 Taking off from Moscow with the flight of the airline Aeroflot SU-271 (airport
Sheremetyevo-II).
13.00 -15.00 Visit Glion.
15.30 Arrival at the world famous hotel “Le Montreux Palace”*****. This hotel
has century-old history and in its guestbook the names modern celebrities and
historical figures are recorded.
The hotel is situated in one of the most picturesque regions of Switzerland – on
the shore of the Lake Geneva, surrounded by the mountains. In front of the hotel
a beautiful romantic park with fountains is laid out. This park is just the same
as it was at the beginning of the previous century.
17.00 -19.00 Meetings, negotiations.
19th of May, Wednesday
10.00 - 18.00 Plenary meeting of the XV International Congress on regional
development on the theme “Modernization as the main way of economic development”.
19.00 State reception on behalf of the President of the International Union of
Economists: Cocktail party, gala-dinner in the hall «Rotary» of the hotel “Le
Montreux Palace”.
20th of May, Thursday
8.00 Departure for the excursion to Aosta (Italy) and Chamonix (France).
10.00 - 13.00 City tour Aosta.
Aosta is the administrative centre of the region Aosta Valley located on the
North-West Italy. The valley is surrounded by majestic mountains, which are the
highest in Western Europe. Aosta was founded by Romans and is known as “the
Alpine Rome”. This city managed to preserve the unique heritage of Italy. From
time immemorial the roads which linked Italy and Spain passed through Aosta.
This city is famous for not only its historical and cultural heritage, number of
sights, breathtaking views, but also for its cosy shops and various boutiques.
13.00 - 16.00 Roundtables, meetings in Aosta.
16.00 -18.00 Visit Chamonix, a large ski resort in France, which attracts
tourists all over the year with its original atmosphere, beautiful medieval
alpine side streets and wonderful opportunities for shopping.
Chamonix, surrounded by majestic mountains, is one of the most picturesque
places in France.
19.00 -21.00 Visit Bex.
21st of May, Friday
9.45 Departure for the excursion to Lausanne.
10.15 - 11.30 Panoramic tour of Lausanne, the capital of the canton Vo, which is
situated on the northern shore of lake Geneva. This city is the biggest after
Zurich cultural and economic centre of Switzerland. “The old city” of Lausanne
is saturated with medieval atmosphere, that goes harmoniously with new modern
quarters, and the views of lake Geneva and Alps are worthy of the romantic
artist's brush. During the tour you will visit the Cathedral, that was included
into the list of UNESCO world cultural heritage.
11.45 - 15.20 Lake cruise.
This voyage is a wonderful opportunity to see the unique beauty of the
medieval castles and majestic mountains, to enjoy the views of the towns of the
Swiss Riviera. The salubrious mountain air will give you the sense of harmony
and ease.
15.30 -17.30 Work in sections, debates in Lausanne.
22nd of May, Saturday
09.00 - 14.00 The continuation and completion of the XV International
Congress on regional development.
15.00 - 20.00 Free time.
You will have an opportunity to walk along the cosy street of Montreux, to
enjoy the unique architecture and view of one of the most beautiful cities of
Switzerland. The distinguishing feature of this city is a remarkable contrast
between the ultra-modern buildings of the centre and the buildings that preserve
the atmosphere of the past. Due to the special microclimate of the bay this
territory is notable for the rich verdure: graceful mansions roll in bays,
magnolias, palms, cypresses and almond trees.
20.00 Gala-dinner in the restaurant «Garmount» of the hotel «Le Monteux Palace».

13.00 Departure to Moscow with the flight of the airline Aeroflot SU-272
18.50 Arrival in Moscow at the airport Sheremetyevo-II (Moscow time).
