At the Plenary Session, which took place on the 5th of
January on the board of the cruise liner “Freedom of the Seas”, the
subject “The world economy until 2020: forecast and reality” was
thoroughly examined.
The work of the Meeting was opened by the IUE First
Vice-President Krasilnikov V.N. In his speech of welcome
Krasilnikov V.N. remarked that “the subject of the Meeting is of
utmost importance. The present situation of the world economy,
the dynamic of its development during the last months
demonstrated the whole universal scale of problems affecting the
international society in general and each country and each
person individually.
The modern society is in great need of a search of innovational
methods to overcome the crisis events and building longterm
development strategies.
I hope that during the discussion new and perhaps non-standard
ways of reforming and transformation of the world economy will
be found”.
Traditionally at the beginning of the Plenary Session
membership cards were presented to new members of the
International Union of Economists.
A speech of welcome was made by Michele Fedoroff,
Officer-in-charge of the Section of Non-governmental
Organizations in the Division of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA)
at the United Nations.
 The
keynote address was given by Dynkin Aleksandr Aleksandrovich –
Director of the Institute of world economy and international
relationships of the Russian Academy of Sciences, member of the
Council under the President of RF of science, technologies and
education, member of the Council on competitiveness and
entrepreneurship under the Government of RF, academician of the
Russian Academy of Sciences, D.Sc. (economics), professor.
The subject was “The world economy until 2020: forecast and
reality”.

– report on the execution of the budget of the International
Union of Economists in 2008;
– Budget of the International Union of Economists for 2009.
In the framework of the Annual Meeting official events, business
meetings, scientific discussions and a wide cul-tural and
