INTERNATIONAL UNION OF ECONOMISTS (IUE)

For the first time members of the IUE gathered in a new place for them - Caribbean region by invitation of the National Association of Economists of Cuba, the country which is an authoritative representative of The Non-allied States.

International Union of Economists was the first who started discussion of different problems of globalization. Many members of IUE addressed mass media and many forums with their views about globalization for the different regions of the world and separate countries.

The main task of the passed meeting was to discuss advantages and risks of globalization and to try to elaborate such political, economic and social decisions, which could help different countries to step onto this stage of civilization development without much expenses.

The meeting was held by the President of IUE, professor G.Kh.POPOV. He made the main report.

In the discussion took part:

GEORGUIEV R.M., Vice-president of IUE, Councillor in the Council of Ministers of Bulgaria, (Bulgaria). His topic "Intellectual scissors and globalization"

ANTIPENKO E.E., First deputy of Minister of nuclear energy. His topic "Nuclear energy in stable development of the society".

ZOTOV V.B., Prefect of the South-East administrative area of Moscow in the rank of Minister in the Government of Moscow. His topic " Economic environment of mega-pole in the era of globalization (Moscow as example)".

MARTIROSOV V.G., a member of Presidium, academician of the International Academy of management. His topic "Oil processing, its role in oil business in the beginning of XXI century".

AFANASIEV V.W., Executive director of Association of the Russian operators of GSM. His topic "Telecommunications and globalization".

RUSIN I.I., Vice-President, Pro-rector of the International University (in Moscow). His topic "Globalization of education".

FILIPPOV N.K., Pro-rector on science and responsible for the work with the youth in Cheboksarski cooperative Institute at Moscow University of consumer cooperation. His topic "Globalization: legal problems".

YANIN V.G., Head of Administration of Cyzran town of Samarskaya region. His topic "Globalization and economic development of small towns (Syzran as example).

ASAUL A.N., Chairman of the Council of directors of OAO "Project and construction association "Lenobl-agrostroy". His topic "Networks organizations as a result of globalization".

BURAK P.I., Director of the Institute of regional economic researches. His topic "Role of big cities in globalization and economic development".

In their reports participants of the Meeting critisized the policy of globalization of the USA Administration and proposed a democratic alternative, where an important part would be humanitarian aspect of global development.

As noted in his report G.Kh.Popov: "The aim of democratic approach to globalization - to move forward to more integrated world while reducing contradictions and increasing profitability of globalization for all the countries on the planet and for a separate country as well.

The aim of democratic integration is to help all to find such place on our planet, such a niche, that may assure a deserved life to a separate country and to all, who intercommunicates with it".

At the meeting were discussed practical and organizational questions:

report of the IUE activity in 2003;

report of the Revision Commission about financial and economic activity of IUE in 2003;

budget report for 2003;

budget project for 2004.

While discussing the project of the budget for 2004, it was pointed out that there would be important expenses on active and constructive participation in realization of the program of preparation to 240 anniversary of Free Economic Society of Russia - the oldest association of economists, an IUE member.

President of IUE G.Kh.Popov presented new membership cards to the members of IUE:

V.G.VINOGRADOV, a Councilor to the Minister of RF on nuclear energy;

V.B.ZOTOV, Prefect of the South-East Administrative area of Moscow in the rank of Minister in the Government of Moscow;

Yu.M.MARINICHEV, Chairman of the Council of Moscow regional Association of consumer cooperation;

V.G.MARTIROSOV, a member of Presidium, academician IAM;

I.I.RUSIN, Vice-President, Pro-rector of the International University (in Moscow), Dean of the Faculty of management, academician IAM;

O.M.TOLKACHEV, a member of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of RF.

In conclusion of the plenary meeting was taken a decision to hold next meeting in Nairobi, Kenya.
