The International Union of Economists (IUE) was founded in Bulgaria (Sandansk) at 1991 by prominent economists, scientists and experts, public figures, bankers and businessmen from various countries of the world as the international independent public non-governmental association on the basis of voluntarily and equity of its members.
The main principles of the IUE's activities proclaimed at its establishment are democracy, humanism and open dialogue.
The International Union of Economists declares as its main goals:
- to contribute to economic and social progress of the world community;
- to facilitate the wide exchange of information, ideas and knowledges;
- to encourage the establishment of enterprises, financial structures in various regions and states, offshor and free economic zones for the purposes of development of new products, goods and services manufacturing and creation of new workplaces;
- to render the practical help in development of small and medium business, help in training of personnel;
- to protect professional, creative and social interests of the Union members, to render legal, methodical and other help to the IUE's members in realisation of their international activity.
The International Union of Economists is the member of the International Union of Technical Associations and Organizations (UATI) UNESCO (since 1993).The International Union of Economists is a member of the United Nations Organisation among the non-governmental organisations (since 1995). The International Union of Economists is in General Consultative status with Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (since 1999).
The first IUE' President was Gavriil POPOV- the President of Free economic society of Russia, President of the International University, President of the International Business Academy, Full member (Academician) of the International Academy of Management, D.Sc. (economics), Professor. In 1996 he was re-elected on this post.
The International Union of Economists unites the representatives (collective and individual members) from 44 countries of the world. There are more than 350 members of the International Union of Economists among which are legal entities and private individuals. Now International Union of Economists has the official representations and branches in 21 states, in Australia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Byelorussia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Great Britain, Hongkong, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Khyrghyzstan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Moldavia, Russian Federation, USA, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, France.
The International Union of Economists has founded the International Business Academy and the International Academy of Management.
The IUE is one of the founders of the International University in Moscow.
According to its publishing program the International Union of Economists issues the newspapers, magazines, bulletins and other editions of general circulation about 11 millions copies annually, including "The Proceedings of the International Union of Economists and Free Economic Society of Russia", magazine "Econom", newspaper "Economic News of Russia and Commonwealth", "The Customs Bulletin", collection of the normative acts "Documents", "The Newsletter of the International Union of Economists".
The International Union of Economists is both an organiser and a participant of economic forums and congresses, among those are : the International forum "Global Experience and Economy of Russia"; the Petersburg Economic Forum; the International Congress on Interregional Cooperation (Switzerland); the International Forum "Strategy of Economic Development of Russia - Step in XXI century"; the International Program "Problems of Caspian Region - Direction, Priorities, Decision", etc.
The International Union of Economists conducts the General Meeting annually. It deals with the urgent questions of global economy development, including: Economy of non-productive sphere; The man in business and economy; The financial market. The market of the capitals. The present and future of the investments and others.

2008 - Aqaba, Jordan At the IUE's international meetings the practical experience of creative interaction of the people of different races and nationalities, scientific schools, creeds and social status is found.
The experience of cooperation treasured by the IUE, confirms an opportunity of non-governmental organisations to act in a role of the public leaders of realisation of the national, interregional, continental and global programs of development.
The International Union of Economists provides for a wide range of interested persons, including state bodies, an opportunity to test the projects of the legal and normative acts on major directions of economic and social development in both national, and international scale.
The main practical result of the IUE activities is the fruitful cooperation in the field of creation and using of new knowledges, technologies, products and services.
