INTERNATIONAL UNION OF ECONOMISTS (IUE)

In the period from January 3 to14, 2007 in the cities of Shanghai and Sanya (Chinese People’s Republic) was held XVI annual meeting of members of International Union of Economists. The meeting was held by the invitation and support of Association of science and technique of China.  

At the plenary meeting, which was held on January 9 in the hotel “Sheraton Sanya” was widely presented the topic “Special economic zones –world experience”.

In the work of the meeting took part Mrs. Michele Fedoroff, Deputy Chief of NGO Section of Departments of Social and Economic Affairs of the UN, officials – representatives from city municipal organs of Sanya, leaders of Association on science and technology of the province of Haynan, representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in China and from the General Consulate of RF in Shanghai.

The work of the meeting was headed by   G.Kh. POPOV, President of the IUE.

In his welcome speech he congratulated all members of IUE with New Year holidays and noted, that the place for that meeting was chosen according to the topic “Special economic zones –world experience”. Experience of China in creation and functioning of special economic zones is very important for economists of the Russian Federation and of other countries.

Special interest was given to the presentation of G.Kh. POPOV, “Peoples democratic way of coming out of socialism”, which became development of theoretical researches of the problem, already discussed at the XV jubilee meeting of IUE members, which was organized in the Headquarters UN in New York (USA) in January 2006 ) the text is on the site www.iuecon.org)

At the jubilee meeting became a tradition to reward IUE members for the work they did for International Union of Economists, who made an important contribution into development of organization, and participate in the programs and projects of IUE, directed towards realization of the tasks of increasing efficiency of economic development of the world community.

President of IUE G.Kh. Popov presented Diploma and certificate of “Golden Fund of the International Union of Economists” to SHILOBREYEV Yu.A., a member of the Council of elders under Mayoralty of Moscow, a corresponding member of IAM, academician of International academy of information processes and technologies, Laureate of the state premium, Merited constructor of the Russian Federation.

Participants of the Meeting discussed practical questions of the IUE activity.

-Report of the work of IUE for 2006

-Report of the Revision commission of the International Union of Economists on financial-economic activity in 2006

-Report on the budget of IUE in 2006

-Budget of IUE for 2007.

Participants also took some organizational decisions.

 Position of Vice-president was relieved by  SHAKIROV A.N. by his personal request.

The program of the meeting included official events, business meetings, scientific discussions and wide cultural outside program, visits to the free economic zone Suchzhou, excursions to Shanghai, Suchzhou, Sanya, acquaintance with rich traditions, historical heritage and achievements in different spheres of scientific technical progress in the country.
